About Kitchen Life

A time-management cooking game. Orders arrive faster than any one dish takes to prepare, so the game is really about overlap โ€” starting the next thing while the last is still cooking, and knowing which steps can safely be left alone. Customers do not wait indefinitely and food left too long is wasted, which puts the difficulty in the order you do things rather than in how quickly you can tap. Rounds are short and self-contained.

How to Play

Tap ingredients to start preparing them. Steps take time, and several can be running at once. Watch the order tickets โ€” customers only wait so long, so the order to start next is usually the one about to run out. Food left cooking too long is wasted, costing you both the ingredient and the time. Serve finished dishes to clear tickets and reach the roundโ€™s target before time runs out.

Good to know

Fast enough to need your attention while a round is running, but rounds are short, so it is easy to stop between them. Tapping is the only input and it works equally well on a phone. Sound cues help you notice something is ready without watching it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I keep just missing the target?

Almost always the order rather than the speed. Starting the slowest dish first and filling the gaps with quicker ones clears more tickets than working through them as they arrive.

Can I leave something cooking and do other things?

Yes, and you have to โ€” but only up to a point, since anything left too long is wasted.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes. It is bright, has no violence and nothing worse happens than a failed round, though the later rounds do get genuinely busy.
