About Turbo Race
An arcade racer against computer opponents. Handling is forgiving rather than simulated — the car goes where you point it — so races come down to the line you take and when you use the handbrake, not to mastering a physics model. Tracks are short enough to restart without thinking about it, and obstacles along the way mean the shortest route is not automatically the fastest one. Full keyboard controls, including a drift.
How to Play
Steer your car, avoid obstacles and overtake your rivals. Stay on the track and keep your speed up. Controls: W or Up to accelerate, S or Down to brake and reverse, A and D or Left and Right to steer, and Space for the handbrake drift. Use the drift entering a tight corner rather than during it. Reach the finish line ahead of your rivals to win the race.
Good to know
Built around a keyboard, so this is a desktop game first. Races are short and restarts are immediate. Forgiving handling means you can be competitive within a race or two rather than spending the first several fighting the car.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the controls?
W or Up to accelerate, S or Down to brake and reverse, A and D or the arrow keys to steer, and Space for the handbrake drift.
When should I use the handbrake?
Going into a tight corner rather than in the middle of one. Pulling it mid-corner usually costs more speed than the corner would have.
Is the shortest line the fastest?
Not always — obstacles are placed where the tightest line would take you, so a slightly wider route is often quicker as well as safer.
